JULY’s TRAP SHOOT
Saturday July 5th, 9:00am - 1:00pm, Thursday July 17,4:00pm - 7:30pm and Saturday July 19, 9:00am - 1:00pm, Dinnie will hold his monthly trap shoot. The fee is $3.50 a round consisting of 25 clays. Those under 18 years of age shoot free. Guns and ammo are not supplied. You DO NOT have to be a range member for these trap events, families with children are encouraged to attend. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian and everyone will be required to sign a release waiver. For safety purposes, please have your shotguns UNLOADED and in a gun case or rug. If you don't have a case, have them broke open or have the breach back when walking across the range to the trap area.
Midvalley Defensive Shooters will also be holding their monthly IDPA match Saturday, July 19th 9:00am - 1:30pm. As always, please come early to help set up the shooting stages if at all possible. You need to be there at least by 8:30 to sign-in and be prepared to shoot. More information about IDPA can be found at the link on the left.

City of Atwater Hunter Education Classes
There are 2 Hunter Ed classes scheduled for July. An "Internet / Home Study" class will be held at the Atwater Community Center on July 24 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
The "traditional" class dates are July 31, August 1 and 2. The first two days of the class will be held at the Atwater Community Center from 6:00 pm to 9:30 pm. The final day will be held at the River Oaks Range from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

RANGE CLOSURE FOR FAMILY EVENT
At the request of the Bettencourt Family, “THE RANGE WILL BE CLOSED TO ALL MEMBERSHIP” from August 15th through the 17th for their personal event. Please respect the family’s request and plan your range visit to another date.
August IDPA Match Moved Back
The Midvalley Defensive Shooters IDPA match normally held on August 16th will be a week earlier on August 9th.
Safety First Shooting Association (SFSA) operates River Oaks Range located on private property in Winton, California between Merced and Turlock.
Though membership is required to shoot at River Oaks during regular hours, numerous activities and “shoots” held at the range are open to the public.
The following events and classes afford many first-time and experienced shooters a friendly, safe place to enjoy the shooting sports: Jakes Youth Day, Living History Rendezvous, IDPA style events, Merced County CCW live-fire qualification, various women’s shoots, a planned postal shoot in conjunction with the VFW this fall, and NRA Certified instruction in pistol, rifle, shotgun, home firearms safety and the NRA “Refuse to be a Victim” course.
