Rendezvous?

What is a Rendezvous? It all started after the Lewis & Clark Expedition. In the early 1800’s when the United States acquired the Louisiana Purchase from France. Trappers & Traders formed supply trains to furnish needed goods to the men of the American Fur Trade Company.

1825 - The First Rendezvous

It was held in the Green River area of what is now Wyoming. Goods were brought in from the East to a meeting site setup the year before. Company men would buy beaver furs and such from trappers and Indians. Beaver skins were as good as gold. The Mountain Men as they were called, only seen each other once a year so they made the most of it.

They held games and events and cookouts for weeks while trading for needed supplies for the rest of the year. This was called a Rendezvous point, Thus we have “Rendezvous”.
