As the past president of Safety First Shooting Association, an Endowment Life Member of the NRA, and a grassroots political activist of many years, I am asking for your help.
The legislature in California continues to be a breeding ground of anti-Liberty legislation bent on taking away our God-given rights as enumerated in the Second Amendment of the Constitution. Every year a batch of ugly, ill-conceived bills are introduced in the hopes of taking away your rights to own and use your guns. This steady flow of incrementally corrosive legislation is meant to gain the support of an inattentive population since most of the language used is couched in “reasonable” teams.
Now I know that you pay attention to this continuing attack. I know that you would fight to save your rights to keep and bear arms. I know that when they come to get your guns you will fight and want your neighbors to stand with you against all odds. But what you may not know is that time is now.
The anti-gun, anti-Liberty laws that are passed in this state affect you no matter what your gun is, no matter what you game is. Whether you are a hunter, a competitor, a plinker, a re-loader, a shotgunner or a gunsmith, your rights are being threatened more and more every year. Now is the time your neighbor needs you. Now is the time for you to add your loud voice to the rising grassroots effort to defeat these arrogant legislators and their anti-Liberty ideas.
I invite you to join us at the next Merced-Mariposa NRA Members’ Council Meeting. There is no fee involved to join. You must, however, be a registered voter and an NRA member in good standing. Our meetings last about an hour, and we discuss upcoming legislation and what we need to do to urge our legislators to do the right thing.
You may wonder what difference your voice could possible make. Let me just say that the Members’ Councils have been very influential in keeping many onerous bills from being passed. We are proud of our record. It is gratifying work. The fact is, the more voices we have, the more pain we can inflict on the foolish legislators who propose and support these anti-Liberty ideas. We need you, neighbor! We need you now.
We meet every third Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM at the Winton VFW Lodge located at 7093 West Walnut, Winton, CA 95340.
