Rules for Midvalley Defensive Shooters 3-Gun Match
Because there are no guidelines from IDPA headquarters for 3-gun matches it has been left to the discretion of local clubs to implement their own rules. Therefore we believe the current IDPA rulebook will provide some foundation in most areas but took some liberties in other.
Pistols: Will still fall under the current IDPA rules and guidelines in regards to division and classification.
Shotguns: Any legal length pump or semi-auto action, single, or double barrel shotgun. The maximum rounds that can be loaded at the start are 6 cartridges in the magazine tube and 1 in the chamber, there will be no limitations on the reload. Birdshot only.
Rifles: Any semi-auto, pump action, lever action, or bolt-action center-fire rifle will be allowed with cartridge ballistics specifications not to exceed .30.06(i.e. no .338 Lapua, .300 Win, 7 mm., .50 BMG etc.). No steel core or AP rounds allowed. Regardless of magazine capacity only 10 rounds are loaded and 1 in the chamber.
There will be a total of 6 stages: 2- pistol, 2- shotgun, and 2- rifle. The pistol stages will be a typical IDPA course of fire. Shotgun stage targets will be steel pepper poppers. The rifle stage will be held on the rifle range and will be steel reactive targets. Maximum range will be no more than 150 yards.
The approximate round count will be no more than 36 for pistol, 25 for shotgun, and 40 for rifle. But bring extra anyway.
