Month of February Trap Shoots

Weather permitting, on Saturday, February 20, 9:00am - 1:pm. Dinnie will be holding his monthly Trap shoot. The fee is $4.00 a round consisting of 25 clays. Women and those under 18 years of age shoot free. Guns and ammo are not supplied. You DO NOT have to be a range member for these trap events, families with children are encouraged to attend. Those under 18 must be  accompanied by a parent or guardian and everyone will be required to sign a release waiver. For safety purposes, please have your shotguns UNLOADED and in a gun case or rug. If you don't have a case, please have them broke open or have the breach back when walking across the range to the trap area.

Black Powder Rendezvous Event

There is a scheduled Black Powder Rendezvous Event on Saturday, February 13th on the Pistol Range. The Pistol Range will be CLOSED for the duration of this event to general membership usage.

Midvalley Defensive Shooters February IDPA Match

Weather permitting (this statement is really getting old). Midvalley Defensive Shooters will hopefully be able to hold their monthly IDPA match on Saturday, February 20 at 9:00 AM. If at all possible, please come early to help set up the shooting stages. You need to be there by 8:30 AM to sign-in and be prepared to shoot. We haven’t been able to hold a shoot since November’s 2009 3 Gun Match. If we are able to shoot this month, lets make this a good showing of better shooting days to come.

Reminder on some Range Rules

The Firing Line

The Firing Lines marked on the walls in Bay 2 and Bay 3 are set at a distance that makes it safe for members and onlookers using either bay at the same time. Except for special events under supervision of Range Safety Officers, all weapons are to be loaded, unloaded and shot from or in front of the Firing Line pointing into the dirt backstop. You are allowed to position the tables up to the Firing Line if you do not want to be walking back and forth. We ask you to please adhere to the rule and kindly remind others you may see breaking this rule for all of our safety.

Pick Up Your Brass and Casings

PLEASE make every effort to pick up your spent brass and shot shell casing. 22’s are exempt due to the small size and usual large quantity expended. You can either throw the brass in the trash can or in the brass buckets for those that like to reload their ammo can pick it out. This is Not a Lost Brass Range where it is OK to leave it laying around.

Weather Cancelations

Many shooting events at River Oaks Range are held rain or shine for the die hard shooters. But poor shooting bay conditions can pose a serious safety hazard. Throughout the coming winter months watch this page for last minute event cancelations and even Full Range Closure postings. You may not mind wading out to put up a target, but standing water and speeding bullets can have unexpected results. We’d appreciate your cooperation and understanding should we close the range or cancel an event.
