Get Trained and Practice
If you currently own or plan to purchase a firearm for personal, home, or business defense/protection, for your own safety, and the safety of all others, it is imperative that you become familiar with, and proficient in, the proper operation and safe use of the firearm(s) you select.
Whatever your reason for purchasing or owning a firearm, without the ability to properly and safely use that firearm is a recipe for disaster! Proper training and practice to hone your shooting skills, plus the knowledge of the current laws pertaining to the use of firearms in your state/county is solely your responsibility as a firearm owner.
As an association that defends the Second Amendment to the constitution, we at Safety First Shooting Association urge you to seek out proper firearms training and defensive skills workshops.

4H National Instructor Development Conference Fundraiser Sunday, April 26th, 2015 10am - 2pm
This fund raiser is to support holding a National 4H Shooting Sports Instructor Development Conference here in California. This is a week-long development conference in each discipline of Rifle, Shotgun, Pistol, Archery, Hunting and Muzzle Loading training. We think we might even be able to have a Western Heritage Instructor program, a first for California! A person may only attend one discipline for the week. This conference will be held over on the coast at Camp San Louis Obispo where we have accommodations, chow halls and instructional areas for attendees from around the western US. In California we only have a very few Instructors who can certify regional leader trainers and project leaders in each of these disciplines; for instance we only have one (1) Archery and only one (1) Rifle instructor for the entire state! We need to have this event here in state! Come out and support our youth of tomorrow!!!!
By clicking HERE, is a flyer for a fund raiser to support holding a 4H National Shooting Sports Instructor Development Conference here in California next September. Please let all your friends know about this event. We need to raise $ 5000.00 or more, and we do have it set up so its tax deductible by donating thru the California 4H Foundation. Please save or print this file out.

***River Oaks Range Preamble ***
Safety First Shooting Association is a 501(c)4 nonprofit corporation which operates the River Oaks Range on private property. The Association was formed to promote Firearms Training and Safety to the Community. To this end we are organized to provide training opportunities and venues to support Firearms classes, public service events, various outreach programs to the general public, and educational opportunities related to the shooting sports. While we do operate a shooting range, our purpose is to provide education and training. Membership is not required to participate in the education and training opportunities presented by this Association. As an Association, Members are encouraged to attend any or all training's they desire or have an interest in. All education and training opportunities take precedence over general range activities. While our intent is to keep class fees to a minimum, some course materials will have a small cost associated, although this may be alleviated by grants and donations to the education aims of the Association.
This Association is dedicated to the promotion of the shooting sports and firearms safety. Our membership provides specific training in the use of firearms and firearms safety, while conducting classes and events in several shooting sport disciplines for the general public and our community.
